Two ways to get your Spectrum Business Voice number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Spectrum Business Voice as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.
Forwarding star codes are confirmed from two independent official Spectrum Business PDFs (high confidence). Porting mechanics (CSR-only via new carrier, keep-account-active) are confirmed on Spectrum’s own FAQ pages, but Spectrum does not publish a typical timeframe, an explicit port-out PIN, or an LOA requirement, so those fields are left null rather than guessed. Forward calls

1

Confirm the feature is enabled

On some accounts, Call Forwarding must first be turned on in the online Voice Manager at spectrumbusiness.net before the phone star codes will respond.
2

Pick up the handset

On the line you want to forward, lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone.
3

Dial *72

This activates Call Forwarding Always (unconditional forwarding).
4

Enter the destination number

After the second dial tone, dial the 10-digit number where calls should ring.
5

Confirm and hang up

All incoming calls to the line now ring the forwarded number until you deactivate the feature.
6

Call your business number from another phone

Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.

Good to know

  • Deactivate Call Forwarding No Answer with *93 and Call Forwarding Busy with *91.
  • Spectrum’s own printable star-code guide states: ‘Features activation using the voice portal is required before the star codes will work’ for some accounts.
  • Spectrum Business Voice also documents Call Forwarding Selective (*63 activate / *83 deactivate), separate from unconditional forwarding.

Move your number

Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:
Do not cancel your service with Spectrum Business Voice until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.

Watch out for

  • Spectrum cannot give customers their own Customer Service Record (CSR) — FCC rules require the new provider to request the CSR directly from Spectrum, so the new carrier drives the whole process.
  • Keep the Spectrum Business account active until the port-out fully completes; disconnecting service before the port finishes risks losing ownership of the number.
  • Spectrum’s official FAQ states porting timing ‘can vary depending on factors such as the volume of telephone numbers being ported, the service provider you are porting to and the complexity of the request’ — it does not commit to a fixed day range.
