Two ways to get your RingCentral number to your agent. Forwarding keeps RingCentral as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.
Forwarding verified from RingCentral PDFs; port-out account number and PIN pages are login-gated, so those fields are null. Checked 2026-09-11.

Forward calls

1

Open the RingCentral app and go to Settings

Click Edit next to Call handling. You need call handling permission from your admin.
2

Turn on Forward all calls

This overrides your work and after hours settings while it is on.
3

Choose where to forward

Click Show more options, then enter an external phone number.
4

Save

Optionally set start and end dates first.
5

Call your business number from another phone

We are listening. The moment it rings Maggie, this page turns green.
6

Call your business number from another phone

Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
RingCentral does not publish a dial code for forwarding. Use the steps above.

Good to know

  • No forwarding dial code is documented on any RingCentral page; do not assume *72.
  • Forward all calls makes the user unavailable in call queues and overrides Do not disturb.
  • Admins can also set it in the Admin Portal at service.ringcentral.com.

Move your number

Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:
Do not cancel your service with RingCentral until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.

Watch out for

  • The new carrier drives the port; RingCentral has no self-serve port-out form.
  • Do not cancel RingCentral first: numbers not yet ported may be released on cancellation.
  • Ending a term early leaves the remaining balance due.
