Forwarding codes and the toggle-menu behavior are confirmed on Brightspeed’s own Digital Voice Star Code Guide PDF (high confidence). The transfer/porting page found is under the residential help section; a distinct business support section exists (brightspeed.com/business-solutions/support/) but its porting content was not independently verified as different, and no PIN is documented on either, so pinRequired is left null. Good to know
- Brightspeed’s Digital Voice star codes are toggles, not separate activate/deactivate codes: dialing *72 (or *90 for busy, *92 for no answer) opens a voice menu where you press 1 to enable and enter a forwarding number, or press 2 to disable.
- A separate ‘Remote Access Forwarding’ feature lets unconditional forwarding be set up remotely through the voicemail system, so it keeps working through a power or internet outage.
- Brightspeed also documents Call Forward: Out of Service (*94) for when the line is unregistered.
Move your number
Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:Watch out for
- If Brightspeed has placed a freeze on the number, the customer must contact Brightspeed to have it removed before the new carrier can complete the transfer.
- The new provider initiates the port and contacts Brightspeed — Brightspeed does not start the process from the customer side.
