Two ways to get your Cox Business VoiceManager number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Cox Business VoiceManager as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.
Forwarding codes are confirmed on an official Cox VoiceManager PDF (high confidence). Cox has no official self-serve ‘port out’ customer article; PIN location and account-number placement are confirmed on official billing/PIN pages, but typical porting duration and LOA requirements are undocumented and left null. Forward calls

1

Lift the receiver

On the line you want to forward, pick up and listen for a dial tone.
2

Dial *72#

This is the Call Forwarding Always Activation code for Cox VoiceManager.
3

Enter the destination number

After the second dial tone, dial the 10-digit number where calls should ring.
4

Listen for confirmation

A confirmation tone means Call Forwarding Always is now active.
5

Deactivate when done

Lift the receiver, dial *73#, and listen for the confirmation tone.
6

Call your business number from another phone

Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.

Good to know

  • Deactivate Call Forwarding Busy with *91# and Call Forwarding No Answer with *93#.
  • Cox VoiceManager codes end with a trailing # — unlike some other providers that use *72 without it.
  • Cox also documents Call Forwarding Not Reachable (*94# activate / *95# deactivate) for outages.
  • Feature Access Code availability varies by the feature package on the account, per Cox’s own guide.

Move your number

Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:
Do not cancel your service with Cox Business VoiceManager until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.

Watch out for

  • Cox’s own pages describe this PIN as a general account-protection PIN (used for calling records, billing-address changes, and authorized-user changes) rather than labeling it specifically a ‘port-out PIN,’ though a new carrier will typically ask for it with the account number.
  • An active discounted 1- or 2-year term plan can carry an early termination fee if the account is closed as part of the port.
