Two ways to get your Dialpad number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Dialpad as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.

Forward calls

1

Open Your Settings

Sign in at dialpad.com and go to Your Settings > Your Devices.
2

Add a forwarding number

Select Add New, then Add a forwarding number, and enter the external number.
3

Verify the number

Select Verify — Dialpad calls the number; answer and press 1 to confirm.
4

(Optional) tune behavior

Under Advanced Settings, adjust caller ID and the ‘press 1 to answer’ verification prompt for forwarded calls.
5

Call your business number from another phone

Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
Dialpad does not publish a dial code for forwarding. Use the steps above.

Good to know

  • This is simultaneous ring, not exclusive forwarding: an added forwarding number rings together with the user’s Dialpad app/devices on an incoming call, up to 5 forwarding numbers per account.
  • A separate desk-phone-only ‘Always Forward’ feature exists (Yealink T-series: More Options > Forward), but Dialpad’s own docs say this mechanism is independent from, and not configurable through, the web/mobile client forwarding-number feature.
  • Forwarding to international or premium-rate numbers incurs per-minute charges.

Move your number

Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:
Do not cancel your service with Dialpad until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.

Watch out for

  • Only Company or Office Admins can start a port-out, and only numbers within your own Dialpad company are eligible.
  • Do not cancel the Dialpad account until the port-out is complete and the new provider has successfully ported the number(s) in.
  • All information given to the new provider (company name, account number, service address, authorized username, Billing Telephone Number) must match Dialpad’s records exactly, or the port can be rejected.
  • International porting requirements vary by country; contact porting@dialpad.com for country-specific rules.
