Two ways to get your Google Voice for Workspace number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Google Voice for Workspace as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.
Port-out code path verified; port-out timing and fees are not published. Checked 2026-09-11.

Forward calls

1

Open the Google Admin console

Menu, Apps, Google Workspace, Google Voice.
2

Open Ring groups and pick the group for this number

Ring groups is where an external destination lives.
3

Set Unanswered calls and After hours action to Forward the caller

Forward type: Phone number. Enter Maggie’s number.
4

Save, then call your business number from another phone

We are listening for it.
5

Call your business number from another phone

Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
Google Voice for Workspace does not publish a dial code for forwarding. Use the steps above.

Good to know

  • No per-user forward-all control to an external number is documented; ring group actions are the documented path.
  • Requires the Google Voice admin role.

Move your number

Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:
Do not cancel your service with Google Voice for Workspace until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.

Watch out for

  • Your primary location address must match what is in Voice settings and may differ from the billing address.
  • Do not cancel Voice until the new provider confirms the port.
