Forward calls
1
Pick a phone on the business line
Lift the handset on a phone connected to the AT&T business line and wait for dial tone.
2
Turn on forwarding
Press *72, enter the number you want calls to go to, then press #. On traditional business service you can also dial 72#.
3
Let the call go through
On traditional service the system calls the forward-to number for you. The feature only turns on if someone answers that call, so keep a person on the other end.
4
Turn it off
Press *73# to stop forwarding all calls.
5
Or manage it in the portal
Sign in to your online AT&T business account to store forwarding numbers and manage features you cannot set with a star code. Once numbers are stored online you do not have to re-enter them by phone.
6
Call your business number from another phone
Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
Good to know
- No Answer Call Forwarding turns off with *93#. Busy Call Forwarding turns off with *91#.
- Safe Call Forwarding sends calls elsewhere during an outage: *372 to turn on, *373# to turn off. Deactivating loses all stored numbers.
- Exclusive Call Forwarding routes up to 20 chosen numbers: *63# to turn on, *83# to turn off. The 20 numbers are chosen in the online account, not by phone.
- On traditional AT&T business phone service, the forward-to number must answer for activation to succeed. If it is busy or unanswered the feature quietly does not turn on, so test it before relying on it.
- Dialing rules for the forward-to number on traditional service: long distance needs 1 plus the 10 digits, non-long-distance numbers needing an area code use 10 digits, and local calls use 7 digits.
Move your number
Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:Watch out for
- This is a carrier-to-carrier process, not a self-service one. Your new provider drives it; you mainly supply the account number, service address, and a signed authorization.
- AT&T requires the gaining carrier to hold a Letter of Authorization from you before it submits the request.
- Which AT&T entity holds the number decides the process and the interval. The gaining carrier checks NPAC for the SPID: 7421 is AT&T Digital Link, 7125 is AT&T Local Network Services and AT&T Business VoIP.
- Any pending order on the account causes the port-away request to be rejected. Pending orders take 30 calendar days to clear on SPID 7125 and 30 to 45 days on SPID 7421, so open change orders can stall a move by a month.
- Requests received after 3:00 PM local time count as the next business day.
- AT&T confirms a clean request within 24 to 48 hours depending on the entity, but confirmation is not completion.
- For AT&T Digital Link, if you are disconnecting AT&T entirely the disconnect desk has to be contacted separately in addition to the port request.
