Moving a number (a port) takes it off your old phone company and puts it on Answering Agent. Afterwards there is nothing to forward and one less bill. Your line keeps working while the move happens.

How it works

Start the move from your dashboard

Phone numbers, then Add a number, then Move my number. Upload the bill.

Confirm the details we read

Fix anything that does not match your bill. Mismatches are the top reason carriers reject a port.

We send it to the carrier

Usually 7 to 10 business days. Your number keeps working at your old company until the switch, and we email you when it lands.
Do not cancel your old phone service until we confirm the move is complete. A cancelled number can be released and lost.

Special cases

  • Toll-free numbers need a signed authorization form. We send it to you to sign on your phone.
  • Google Voice numbers must be unlocked at Google first. See the Google Voice page.
  • Numbers on a plan with a port-out lock (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) need the lock turned off in the carrier’s app before the port will go through.

If the carrier sends it back

You get a notice on your dashboard and an email with the exact reason in plain words, usually an account number or name that did not match. Fix the one detail and send it again. Your calls keep forwarding to your agent meanwhile.
