Forwarding steps and star codes are confirmed verbatim on an official Comcast Business support article (high confidence). Comcast publishes no customer-facing port-out how-to page; the PIN’s role and account-closure behavior for porting are corroborated only by Comcast’s own community forum, not a formal support article, so typicalDays and loaRequired are left null. Forward calls
1
Sign in to My Account (optional)
At business.comcast.com/myaccount, select Phone from the Services menu to manage forwarding online, or use the phone star codes below directly.
2
Lift the receiver
On the line to forward, pick up and listen for a dial tone.
3
Dial *72
Wait for the stutter dial tone, then a normal dial tone.
4
Dial the destination number
Enter the 10-digit number where calls should ring. Stay on the line until it’s answered by a person or voicemail.
5
Force-activate if needed
If there’s no answer, hang up, pick up again, and press *72 a second time within two minutes — this activates forwarding without requiring an answered call.
6
Deactivate when done
Lift the receiver, dial *73, and hang up to return calls to the business line.
7
Call your business number from another phone
Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
Good to know
- Deactivate Call Forwarding Busy with *91 and Call Forwarding No Answer with *93.
- Comcast Business Voice also documents Call Forwarding Not Reachable (*58 activate / *59 deactivate, for outages) and Call Forwarding Selective (*63 activate / *83 deactivate).
- This star-code set applies to Business Voice and VoiceEdge Select. Business VoiceEdge customers should use the separate VoiceEdge entry — forwarding there is managed primarily through the VoiceEdge portal.
Move your number
Start the move from Dashboard, then Phone numbers, then Add a number, and choose Move my number. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:Watch out for
- Comcast does not publish a self-serve customer port-out flow; the new carrier requests the Customer Service Record (CSR) from Comcast through Comcast’s carrier-facing Port Authorization Tool (PAT) — customers work through their new provider, not a Comcast self-service page.
- Community support threads (not an official Comcast article) describe that the Comcast line closes automatically once the new carrier’s port completes, and that the account must stay active and current until then; treat this as reported practice rather than documented policy.
