# T-Mobile

> How to forward T-Mobile calls to Answering Agent and how to move your T-Mobile number over.

Two ways to get your T-Mobile number to your agent. Forwarding keeps T-Mobile as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.

## Forward calls

| Action                      | Dial                  |
| --------------------------- | --------------------- |
| Forward all calls           | `**21*1+PhoneNumber#` |
| Stop forwarding             | `##21#`               |
| Forward when no one answers | `**61*1+PhoneNumber#` |
| Forward when busy           | `**67*1+PhoneNumber#` |

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the phone dialer">
    Use the T-Mobile phone that has the number you want to forward.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on forwarding for every call">
    Dial \*\*21*1 then the 10-digit number then #, for example \*\*21*15551234567#, and press call.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or forward only the calls you miss">
    Dial \*\*61*1 then the number then # to forward unanswered calls, \*\*67*1 then the number then # for when you are already on a call, and \*\*62\*1 then the number then # for when the phone is off or out of signal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn it off">
    Dial ##21# for all-call forwarding, ##61# for no reply, ##67# for busy, and ##62# for not reachable.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reset everything if it gets tangled">
    Dial ##004# to reset call forwarding to default, which clears the busy, unreachable, and no-reply settings at once.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Call your business number from another phone">
    Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Good to know

* Not-reachable forwarding, for a phone that is off or out of signal, is \*\*62\*1+PhoneNumber# on and ##62# off. This is the one a business wants as a backstop.
* You can change the ring delay before no-reply forwarding fires: **61*\<number>\*\*\<seconds># in 5-second steps up to 30 seconds. T-Mobile's own example is \*\*61*18056377243\*\*10# for a 10-second delay.
* \##004# resets call forwarding to default and clears busy, unreachable, and no-reply in one shot.
* Short codes are mostly delivered to the primary SIM only and may not work on DIGITS, PROXY by DIGITS, or LineLink DIGITS lines.
* Short codes are country-specific and do not work while overseas.

## Move your number

Start the move from **Dashboard**, then **Phone numbers**, then **Add a number**, and choose **Move my number**. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:

Postpaid on T-Mobile.com: log in from a mobile browser on your T-Mobile device, choose your name, Profile, Permissions and controls, then Transfer PIN. | Unlock first | Yes. Port Out Protection blocks unauthorized transfers and must be turned off before the Temporary Port Out PIN will work. It is set per line. Postpaid: log in to T-Life or T-Mobile.com, Account tab, See Plans, Manage add-ons, pick the line, uncheck Port Out Protection, Continue, then Agree and Submit. An Authorized User can add it but only the Primary Account Holder can remove it. Prepaid line users can call in to have it removed after an extra security check. |

<Warning>Do not cancel your service with T-Mobile until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.</Warning>

### Watch out for

* The PIN request only works from your own T-Mobile device while on the T-Mobile network with Wi-Fi turned off. Requesting from a desktop or over Wi-Fi fails with an error and no PIN.
* A VPN or Apple iCloud Private Relay will also block the request. Turn them off first.
* Port Out Protection is the quiet blocker. A generated PIN will not work while it is still on, and only the Primary Account Holder can remove it.
* You need three things, not two: the T-Mobile account number, the Temporary Port Out PIN, and the account PIN or passcode.
* T-Mobile for Business lines with Port Out Protection cannot be released self-service. An authorized user has to call T-Mobile Customer Care at 1-877-347-2127 to release the line.
* Government accounts must contact T-Mobile to start a transfer.
* There is no charge for transferring numbers.
* Keep the account active until the transfer completes. Cancelling first loses the number.
* The published 10-minutes-to-3-hours and 3-to-10-days figures come from T-Mobile's page about transfers into T-Mobile. T-Mobile does not publish a separate outbound figure.
* T-Mobile does not publish an expiry window for the Temporary Port Out PIN, only that it is temporary.
