# Optimum Business

> How to forward Optimum Business calls to Answering Agent and how to move your Optimum Business number over.

Two ways to get your Optimum Business number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Optimum Business as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.

<Note>Forwarding codes are confirmed on two official Optimum Business PDF guides (high confidence, including busy/no-answer codes found in the West Guide). Optimum publishes no official business landline port-out how-to; porting fields beyond account-number placement are left null rather than borrowing Optimum Mobile's documented process, which is a different product with a different Transfer PIN system. ## Forward calls

| Forward when no one answers | `*92` |

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in to the User Portal (optional)">
    In the My Services area, select Call Forwarding and enter the number forwarded from and the number forwarded to.

  <Step title="Or use the phone keypad">
    Lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Dial *72">
    This activates Call Forwarding Always.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the destination number">
    Wait for the confirmation tone, then dial the number to which calls should be forwarded.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Deactivate when done">
    Dial \*73 from the handset to turn off Call Forwarding Always.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Call your business number from another phone">
    Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.

### Good to know

* Deactivate Call Forwarding Busy with \*91 and Call Forwarding No Answer with \*93.
* Optimum Business also documents Call Forwarding Not Reachable (\*94, number of rings configurable) for when the line can't register.

## Move your number

Start the move from **Dashboard**, then **Phone numbers**, then **Add a number**, and choose **Move my number**. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:

| What the carrier asks for | Where to find it                                                                      |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Account number            | Top of the bill, alongside the Access Code and Service Address.                       |
| Transfer PIN              | Not published by Optimum Business. Ask their support whether a PIN is needed.         |
| How long it takes         | Optimum Business does not publish a time. Most moves finish in 7 to 10 business days. |

<Warning>Do not cancel your service with Optimum Business until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.</Warning>

### Watch out for

* No official Optimum Business page describing a customer-facing landline port-out procedure was found; Optimum directs business customers to call support (888-276-5255) rather than publishing self-serve steps.
