# Google Voice (personal)

> How to forward Google Voice (personal) calls to Answering Agent and how to move your Google Voice (personal) number over.

Two ways to get your Google Voice (personal) number to your agent. Forwarding keeps Google Voice (personal) as your phone company and sends calls over. Moving the number (porting) makes Answering Agent your phone company for that number.

## Forward calls

<Steps>

    Top right.

  <Step title="Add Maggie’s number as a linked number">
    Account, then Linked numbers, then New linked number.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify it">
    Google calls the number with a code. Enter it and click Verify.

  <Step title="Turn forwarding on for that number">
    Calls, then Call forwarding. Turn off the others you do not want ringing.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Call your business number from another phone">
    We are listening for it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Call your business number from another phone">
    Answering Agent listens for the call. When your agent picks up, the phone numbers step in your dashboard turns green.

<Info>Google Voice (personal) does not publish a dial code for forwarding. Use the steps above.</Info>

### Good to know

* Destinations must be verified linked numbers, up to 6.
* Google states forwarding to an automated system is unsupported on personal Voice; if verification fails, move the number instead.

## Move your number

Start the move from **Dashboard**, then **Phone numbers**, then **Add a number**, and choose **Move my number**. Upload your latest bill and we read the details for you. Have these ready:

| Transfer PIN              | Yes. Use the PIN you use for Google Voice voicemail                                                                 |
| Unlock first              | Yes. voice.google.com, Settings, Account, click Unlock under the number. Costs \$3 unless the number was ported in. |
| How long it takes         | Up to 48 hours for calls, up to 3 business days for texts                                                           |

<Warning>Do not cancel your service with Google Voice (personal) until the move is complete. A cancelled number can be lost.</Warning>

### Watch out for

* Do not delete the Google Voice number once the port starts.
* Some services do not accept numbers that originated at Google Voice.
